What if I notice something I don't like about my dog's haircut? We know your dog is excited to see you when you pick them up, so you have 72 hours to notify us if you find something you'd like changed and your groomer will fix it free of charge.
The last groomer completely shaved my dog to the skin. You won't do that will you? Our groomers strive to achieve the style you desire while maintaining humanity must come before vanity. This means that we put the comfort of your dog as the most important aspect of the groom. We are willing to de-mat small areas but sometimes the matting is too close to the skin to be safely or comfortably combed out. In those circumstances we will need to shave the mats out. Your groomer will communicate with you before any are shaved out if they find mats, to discuss your options.
How often should my dog be groomed? The hair cycle for dogs is 3-4 weeks which means that hair starts growing, continues to grow, then goes through a dormant stage before starting the process all over. Certain breeds have longer cycles than others based on genetics and hair type. We recommend every dog get at least a bath and brush out once a month to help keep the skin and coat healthy. We offer mini grooms for dogs that have naturally long coats to keep them tangle free, the fur out of their eyes, feet and fanny trimmed up without having to have a full body haircut. For dogs that shed, doing a de-shedding treatment once a month will keep most of their fur out of your house. If you think about it most people shower daily because we get sweaty and dirty. Now think of your dog who is closer to the ground, likes to roll in the yard and play in the mud. All of that dirt, dead hair or fur, and dandruff are building up and staying on your dog until their next visit to the groomer.
How old should my puppy be for their first groom? Teaching your puppy about the grooming process should start at 8-10 weeks of age. In our facility dogs don't have direct contact with each other to minimize health and safety risks. As long as your puppy has had two sets of puppy shots they're ready to start being groomed. During a puppy's first visit we give them a bath, gentle blow dry, brush out, and try to trim up the hair around their eyes, feet, and fanny plus trim their toenails. We want your new baby to love coming to see us so we keep their first visit short and sweet.
